Maison Fleury is the forerunner of biodynamic viticulture in Champagne, and began its conversion to organic viticulture in 1970, long before it became fashionable. Today, Fleury is certified Agriculture Biologique (AB) and Demeter for its entire 15-hectare estate.
The Notes Blanches cuvée is inextricably linked with the history of the Fleury estate. It was Emile Fleury, the founder, and then his son Robert, who chose to grow Pinot Blanc, a grape variety common in Alsace, but now very rare in Champagne. Pinot Blanc produces very expressive wines, with notes of white flowers and exotic fruit. To best express the characteristics of this grape variety, Fleury has chosen to vinify it in oak barrels.
The aromatic richness of Pinot Blanc is such that this Champagne is not dosed. It is a Brut Nature that combines freshness and aromatic intensity.
Tasting
By Patrick BorrasCuvée Notes Blanches 2011 from Maison Fleury has a pale yellow color with hints of gold. Its bubbles are fine and intense.
The nose is very complex and fresh. Citrus and floral notes (broom) come through very quickly. A hint of chlorophyll enriches this very surprising nose. Cuvée Notes Blanches 2011 boasts a beautiful aromatic palette.
On the palate, this is a very fresh, slightly acidic champagne of great complexity. A very fine, delicate and silky cuvée, carried by a very fine balance.
Cuvée Notes Blanches 2011 from Maison Fleury is a very pleasant, fresh and lively Champagne as an aperitif. This cuvée should be served chilled, at a temperature of 7-8°C.
