Description

Permission refers to the authorization given to this wine to be released in 2020, after spending two years in oak barrels, so that it can complete its maturation in bottle. This cuvée is the modern interpretation of a long tradition of red wine making in Champagne. With Perpétuité, this new Champagne hillside duo echoes the monastic history of Maison Drappier, honoring the days when champagne was still wine.

This Champagne hillside is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes from the "Les Egrillers" vineyard in the commune of Urville, a Côte des Bars terroir in the Aube region. This organically farmed vineyard benefits from southern exposure and Kimmeridgian limestone soil.

The 2018 harvest benefited from 14 days of maceration in demi-muids (650 liters) and 2 years of aging in demi-muids made with young oak from the local forest ( Parc naturel régional de la Forêt d'Orient de l'Aube). This cuvée is vinified without sulfur.

This Champagne hillside has a beautiful, intense red color.

The palate unfolds with magnificent notes of blackcurrant and red fruit. The wine is structured and powerful, yet round on the palate, with a promising finish for the future. The tannins are taut but refined, indicating great ageing potential.

Only 504 bottles of this beautiful coteau champenois red Permission 2018 have been produced.
