Drappier's Grande Sendrée 2008 is a rare cuvée that favors power and expressiveness, with complex notes of ripe fruit and spices.
This champagne takes its name from the Grande Sendrée parcel, which was covered in ashes after the fire that ravaged the village of Urville, where the Drappier estate is located, in 1838. A spelling mistake in the land register explains the S.
It's a cuvée produced exclusively in the very best years, and one that concentrates all the house's expertise.
This champagne is made from the oldest vines on the best parcels of the Drappier estate.
It is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, to achieve a perfect balance between finesse and power.
A partial vinification (35%) is carried out in foudre to bring a little body to La Grande Sendrée 2008.
The cuvée is then aged for a minimum of 5 years in the house's chalk cellars, to perfect its aromas at an ideal, stable temperature.
It is lightly dosed (5.5g/l) and undergoes malolactic fermentation.
On the nose, La Grande Sendrée 2008 Drappier opens with notes of hawthorn, honey, acacia, beeswax and marzipan.
The palate is dense, full and rich. A suave, delicate cuvée that combines structure and delicacy. A harmonious cuvée that lingers on a beautiful minerality.
The finish lingers for long seconds on the palate, ending on a spicy note.
A very fine cuvée for connoisseurs, which can accompany a cocktail party as well as a meal.
