Drappier’s Millésime d’Exception 2008 is a champagne which combines power, complexity and opulence.
2008 is, after 2002, one of the best vintages in recent years. It was a year when the climatic conditions were absolutely perfect, creating the ideal balance between acidity and richness.
The Millésime d’Exception 2008 is a blend of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay made with a minimum use of sulphur. Half of the wines were aged in barrel for one year.
Following bottling, this cuvee quietly matured in the Drappier cellars for 6 years to allow its aromas to develop and evolve.
It is an Extra Brut, dosed at 5,6g/l with the objective of highlighting the gustative qualities of the champagne whilst retaining its original personality.
Millésime d’Exception 2008 from the Drappier champagne house offers a complex nose of citrus fruits (lemon, bitter orange and grapefruit) which evolve on the second nose towards richer notes of fresh bread, hazelnuts and almonds.
The palate skilfully expresses both the power of the Pinot Noir and the elegance of the Chardonnay, with finely fruity aromas, notably small red fruits, and a light touch of spice and notes of vanilla on the final.
It is a champagne which will be just as good as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a risotto, a fatted chicken, or a white fish dish with sauce.
