The Charles de Gaulle cuvée from Champagne Drappier embodies power and elegance, a tribute to the famous General. Its subtle aromas of citrus and almond, combined with an airy mousse, make it an ideal champagne for the aperitif or to accompany refined dishes.
The Charles de Gaulle cuvée from the Drappier house is the champagne that the general loved to enjoy. A loyal customer of the house, his property, La Boisserie in Colombey-Les-Deux-Eglises, is located a short distance from the Drappier estate.
It was thanks to his aide-de-camp, Colonel de Bonneval, that he discovered Drappier champagne and became a devotee.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the call of June 18, 1940, in 1990, the Charles de Gaulle cuvée was created and launched with an identical blend to the one the general favored.
The Charles de Gaulle cuvée is therefore made from a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, offering a generous structure and aromatic finesse. The grapes come from the calcareous Kimmeridgian soils of Urville, in the Aube, a terroir that gives this champagne a unique minerality.
The wines are partly aged in oak, which adds an additional aromatic dimension. The malolactic fermentation is carried out to bring roundness and depth. After bottling, the champagne rests 36 months on the lees, developing a rich and nuanced aromatic palette. The dosage is 6.5 g/l, achieving a perfect balance between structure and freshness.
The Charles de Gaulle cuvée presents a golden and luminous color, revealing beautiful maturity.
The nose is of great finesse, offering aromas of citrus, apple, and almond, with a delicate touch of nutmeg.
On the palate, this cuvée reveals a remarkable complexity and an airy mousse. The slightly candied flavors bring a gourmet note to the finish.
The price of the Drappier Charles de Gaulle bottle is 46,95 €. With its meticulous vinification and refined blend, this champagne embodies the elegance of Drappier and the power of the Champagne terroir.
Champagne lovers appreciate the aromatic finesse and balance of this cuvée, which offers a unique tasting experience. To learn more, consult the reviews of the Drappier Charles de Gaulle cuvée.
