Vintage 2000 Extra Aged from the Deutz champagne house is an unusual cuvee.
It’s a vintage from which the majority of bottles were sold seven years ago, but a handful of bottles were kept in the wine cellars to extend the ageing process and these are available for tasting today.
The Vintage 2000 Extra Aged is silky to the eye with old gold highlights and a fine and lively effervescence.
The nose offers a harmonious aromatic expression incorporating stone fruits, crystallized fruit and dried fruit.
The first sensation in the mouth is of balanced fullness with notes of ripe apricots, quince and crystallized fruit, with an underlying minerality which forms the common thread in this cuvee.
The finish is long, delicious and generous. A superb champagne which falls somewhere between the charm of the Deutz Millésimé and the distinction of the Cuvée William Deutz.
