The Blanc de Blancs 2014 crafted by Maison Delamotte is a champagne that highlights the tension, purity and chalky minerality of the Côte des Blancs. It's an ideal aperitif cuvée.
Delamotte Blanc de Blancs 2014 is made from Chardonnay grapes from the finest terroirs of the Côte des Blancs: Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Oger, Chouilly and Oiry. These chalky terroirs give Champagne a magnificent minerality.
Each village brings its own specificity. Mesnil-sur-Oger (20% of the blend) brings acidity, purity and minerality. Avize (20%) offers balance and structure, while Oger (20%) brings warmth and generosity. Cramant brings a touch of smoky minerality, Chouilly structure and length, and Oiry roundness.
The 2014 vintage was marked by a mild autumn and winter. Spring was magnificent, before the weather finally took a turn for the worse with torrential rains in August and almost autumnal temperatures. It wasn't until September that warm, sunny and above all very dry weather returned. These were ideal conditions for the grapes, which flourished and grew in strength right up to the day of picking, which began on September 11 for the Côte des Blancs Grands Crus.
Delamotte's Blanc de Blancs 2014 was vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve all the freshness of Chardonnay and terroir.
On the nose, this cuvée opens with notes of white flowers and a touch of citrus. On the second nose, after a little aeration, notes of almond emerge. The nose is energetic and very fine.
On the palate, Delamotte Blanc de Blancs 2014 starts with a sharp, creamy attack, followed by a rounder mid-palate, with notes of fruit, candied citrus and brioche. The finish is superb, long, full-bodied and mineral, with a vibrant hint of iodine.
This cuvée is ideal as an aperitif, but also pairs well with poultry or pressed cheese.
