Dehours' Grande Réserve Extra Brut is a very fresh, airy champagne, ideal for the aperitif.
This cuvée is built on the same base as the traditional Grande Réserve, but benefits from an additional year of bottle ageing on lees, and a lower dosage of around 2 grams/liter.
The blend is 57% Pinot Meunier, complemented by 10% Chardonnay and 3% Pinot Noir, and enriched by reserve wines aged in the Solera process begun in 1998.
Grande Réserve Extra Brut is a champagne of finesse, freshness and minerality.
Tasting
By Patrick BorrasGrande Réserve Extra Brut by Dehours is a champagne with a pale yellow color and brilliant golden highlights. Its bubbles are fine, light and discreet.
This champagne has a nose of ripe, stewed fruit reminiscent of orange marmalade. A complex nose with ripe, spicy aromas. A few more mineral notes punctuate this rich, complex nose.
On the palate, this champagne is rich and silky, with a beautiful vinosity, punctuated by fresher notes that give it a certain tension and length.
I'd recommend drinking this champagne with a meal, or to accompany an elaborate aperitif. Its complex spicy aromas make it a perfect accompaniment to sweet/salty or spicy dishes. I suggest serving Grande Réserve Extra Brut Dehours at 11°C to appreciate all its nuances and depth.
