The Brut A04 Grand Cru cuvée, here in magnum, signed by Christian Gosset, is the fourth iteration of the non-vintage champagne that opens his range. It is a full-bodied, broad champagne with great minerality.
Christian Gosset is a young winemaker of 58 years! After 35 years of experience forged on the family estate, he decided to spread his wings and create his own champagnes.
The Brut A04 cuvée is based on the year 2019, a remarkable year in Champagne, marked by beautiful sunshine. This base year is blended with approximately 45% reserve wines. This cuvée combines 85% Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru terroir of Aÿ in the Vallée de la Marne, and 15% Chardonnay from the Grand Cru terroirs of Chouilly in the Côte des Blancs and Aÿ.
The vinification is partly done in enameled vats, and partly (15%) in oak barrels to bring a slight patina. The vinification is carried out with minimal intervention, without filtration and without cold stabilization. The wine is lightly dosed at 3 g/L.
This cuvée boasts a yellow robe with light golden reflections.
On the nose, it is a champagne that reveals notes of ripe fruit, before giving way to more pastry-like aromas and finally a slight iodine note.
In the mouth, the attack is frank, then in the mid-palate, the cuvée finds its balance thanks to a rich and vinous structure. The effervescence gradually fades to generate a softer texture. The finish is very long, tense, salivating, slightly astringent, and adorned with a licorice bitterness.
The Brut A04 Grand Cru cuvée crafted by Christian Gosset will be appreciated as an aperitif but will also find many pairings such as fish and meats with fairly firm textures such as red mullet, tuna, pike, game birds, pork, or rabbit; large raw hams or even cooked cheese.
