The year 2006 was marked by highly contrasting climatic conditions, yet it produced an excellent and miraculous vintage. A hot, sunny July preceded a cold, rainy August. These certainly threatening factors eventually led to a perfect balance in September and good ripening of the grapes. As a result, the champagnes produced from this vintage have good acidity tempered by a pleasant suppleness.
Tasted before the 2005 vintage, this rosé offers unrivalled bloom, according to the House's Chef de Caves, who chose to preserve it for almost 10 years on its lees.
Its pale pink color reveals amber reflections supported by fine, persistent bubbles.
The nose is exquisitely intense. A delicious marriage of candied red fruits (strawberry) and sweet spices (cinnamon, honey, cardamom, pink praline).
The palate is highly complex. The palette of aromas opens with greedy notes of fig, plum and pastry aromas such as pine nut. More spicy fragrances of licorice and cumin take over, mixed with fresh red fruit flavors. The finish is round and warm.
Tasting
By Patrick BorrasCharles Heidsieck Rosé Millésime 2006 has a pink-orange color with sparkling copper highlights. The bubbles are fine and intense.
The nose is subtle and complex, evolving fruity and spicy aromas. In particular, citrus aromas (orange), punctuated by notes of black pepper, give it an aromatic richness that is both delicate and intense.
The palate is full of finesse, with fine, delicate bubbles. This is a fresh cuvée with near-perfect balance. On the palate, we discover notes of very crunchy fruit, giving it a certain greediness. More mineral, almost saline notes on the finish give it depth, and above all a desire to take another glass...
This is a very fine champagne, ideal as an aperitif with its freshness, but also with red fruit desserts thanks to its very gourmand character. I recommend serving this Rosé Millésimé 2006 Charles Heidsieck at a temperature of 9°C.
