Description

La Chapelle du Clos by Cazals is a cuvée that combines liveliness and intensity. Like its big sister, the Cuvée du Clos Cazals, the Cuvée La Chapelle du Clos is made from Chardonnay from the Clos Cazals.

Clos Cazals is divided into three parts: a parcel of old vines dating back to 1957, a parcel dating back to 2001, and another with a small chapel, planted in 1989. La Chapelle du Clos is made from the vines of the latter plot.

The terroir of Oger, on which Clos Cazals is located, has the particularity of being very chalky, producing grapes with a frank vivacity, and wines that often need to be aged for a few years for their ardor to soften and give their best.

La Chapelle du Clos 2016 was vinified in stainless steel tanks to emphasize the purity, freshness and roundness of the Oger terroir. A small portion of the wine (10%) was aged in oak barrels to add a touch of complexity.

This is a full-bodied, expressive Blanc de Blancs champagne, with a brut dosage of 6g/l, highlighting its fruity, gourmand notes.

On the nose, La Chapelle du Clos 2016 offers very elegant floral notes, then after a few minutes, the nose evolves towards citrus and pastry aromas.

On the palate, the attack is delicate and soft, leading to a generous mouthfeel underlined by a mineral and slightly saline structure.

La Chapelle du Clos differs from its big sister in that it is younger (in terms of vines, vintage and ageing in the cellar), and offers another vision of Clos Cazals, less complex and more airy.
