Description

The magnum of Clos Cazals 2014 from Champagne Cazals is an emblematic cuvée. Made from Chardonnay from an exceptional clos, this magnum reveals a complexity and aromatic richness worthy of the greatest cuvées. In this generous format, this champagne reveals all its elegance and depth, offering an even more intense tasting experience.

The Making of the Clos Cazals 2014 Champagne in Magnum

The Clos Cazals 2014 comes from an exceptional vineyard, located in the village of Oger, in the heart of the prestigious Côte des Blancs. This historic clos is one of the 21 officially recognized clos in Champagne. The grapes from these parcels benefit from a unique microclimate thanks to the walls of the clos, which reflect the heat of the sun, offering optimal ripening of the grapes. Only the part planted in 1957 of Clos Cazals, with a total area of 3.7 hectares, is used to make this cuvée, giving this champagne a rare authenticity and exclusivity.

The terroir of Oger, classified as Grand Cru, is known for its richness in chalk, giving the grapes a vivacity and mineral character. The wines of this terroir often require aging for several years to reveal all their complexity. The year 2014 was marked by a rainy autumn and a mild winter, followed by a contrasting climate throughout the year. These conditions gave rise to grapes of exceptional quality, marked by a beautiful acidity and a rich aromatic palette. The 2014 vintage is thus distinguished by a perfect balance and a rich aromatic palette.

The vinification of the Clos Cazals 2014 in magnum is carried out in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness of the wine, while 20% of the blend is aged in oak barrels to add structure and complexity. The dosage is in Extra-Brut, allowing the purity of the terroir to express itself. This meticulous work reveals the finesse and elegance of this exceptional champagne.

Tasting of the Cuvée in Magnum

  • Color

The Clos Cazals 2014 in magnum presents a pale and luminous gold, adorned with fine, persistent bubbles. The magnum format further accentuates the intensity of its color and effervescence.

  • Nose

The nose is both elegant and complex, opening with aromas of white flowers, candied citrus fruits, and lightly toasted notes from aging in oak barrels. The chalky mineral character of the Oger terroir subtly reveals itself, adding an additional dimension.

  • Mouth

In the mouth, the attack is frank and the texture creamy. The flavors of citrus fruits, pastry, and nuts combine with a pronounced minerality, resulting in a long and persistent finish. The magnum format confers an increased maturity, enriching the aromatic palette and offering an even more ample tasting experience.

The Advantages of the Magnum

The magnum, with its capacity of 1.5 liters, offers undeniable advantages. Thanks to its volume, the champagne ages more slowly, developing more complex aromas and preserving its freshness. The proportion of air in the bottle being lower, the quality of the champagne is maintained over time, guaranteeing an exceptional tasting experience. Ideal for large occasions, the magnum of Clos Cazals 2014 offers approximately 12 glasses of champagne, adding a touch of elegance to each event. Moreover, its majestic presence on the table makes it a perfect choice to mark important moments.
