A vibrant tribute to one of the House's founders, Champagne Canard-Duchêne Brut Léonie embodies elegance, gourmandise and finesse. This wine of character draws on the freshness of the latest harvest and the richness of a perpetual reserve initiated in 2012, to deliver a resolutely gastronomic cuvée. Refined, complex and accessible, it is a must-have in the Canard-Duchêne collection.
Brut Léonie draws its personality from a harmonious blend of the three Champagne grape varieties, dominated by Pinot Noir for its structure and nobility:
The heart of the cuvée is based on the 2021 harvest, a low-yield vintage of excellent quality. It is complemented by 50% from a perpetual reserve initiated in 2012, with the oldest wine dating back to 2009. A minimum of 3 years' cellar ageing in the Domaine de Ludes galleries and a dosage of less than 7 g/L ensure the freshness and aromatic intensity of this cuvée.
Marked by significant climatic hazards, the year 2021 in Champagne was one of the most complex of the last decade. Spring frost, high summer humidity and little sunshine drastically reduced volumes. But thanks to a rigorous selection of plots, the grapes harvested produced wines of great aromatic intensity and marked freshness, perfectly suited to the style of Cuvée Léonie.
Brut Léonie is a luminous pale gold color with fine, regular bubbles.
The nose evokes juicy yellow fruits such as peach, accompanied by floral notes and a hint of brioche and sweetness.
Fresh and generous on the palate. Aromas of candied pineapple and dried flowers are enhanced by subtle toasted and spicy notes. The finish is lively and salivating.
The price of a naked bottle of Brut Léonie is 37,95 €. An expressive, elegant champagne, ideal for lovers of affordable gourmet cuvées.
Critics hail this cuvée's precise blending and gourmet freshness. Gold medal winner at the Drinks Business Awards, rated 94/100 by Gault & Millau and 16.5/20 by Le Point, Brut Léonie is a sure bet. Read reviews of Brut Léonie.
This champagne can be enjoyed immediately upon purchase, or kept for 3 to 5 years in a cool cellar (10-15°C) away from light. Serve between 8 and 10°C to bring out its freshness and fruity expression.
Cuvée Léonie is a tribute to Léonie Duchêne, co-founder of the company in 1868, and the first to believe in the potential of her husband Victor Canard. To this day, it symbolizes the feminine elegance and pioneering spirit that have forged the Canard-Duchêne story.
