The R.D. 2008 cuvée signed by Bollinger is a champagne of rare depth and power, from an exceptional vintage. Disgorged in 2022, this cuvée reveals a brilliant freshness combined with exceptional aromatic complexity.
The R.D. 2008 cuvée is made from a blend of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay, from 18 crus, including 84% Grand Crus and 16% Premier Crus. The specificity of this cuvée lies in the exclusive use of wines fermented in oak barrels of 228 and 400 liters, some of which are up to 40 years old. This wood aging gives the wine a beautiful structure and great complexity.
The 2008 vintage is one of the most sought-after in Champagne. The year was considered exceptional because the grapes offered both great maturity and remarkable acidity. Combining the two great qualities necessary for the production of a champagne is not so common. In this 2008 vintage, the wines were expressive and aromatic from the start. This cuvée was disgorged in October 2022, and its maturation on lees lasted 14 years. It benefited from a very low dosage of only 3 g/l to preserve its purity and freshness.
The R.D. 2008 presents an intense golden yellow color, with luminous reflections and fine bubbles, a sign of long aging on lees.
On the nose, this cuvée reveals complex aromas of white-fleshed fruits such as pear and apple, accompanied by notes of orange peel, toasted bread, and subtle hints of macadamia nut and sherry.
In the mouth, the attack is full and lively, with fine and delicate effervescence. The flavors of ripe fruits blend perfectly with notes of chalk and fine spices. The finish is long, tense, offering a remarkable sensation of freshness.
The price of the R.D. 2008 Bollinger bottle is 349,95 €. This price justifies the rarity of this cuvée and its long aging.
Enthusiasts praise the power and depth of this R.D. 2008 cuvée, finding it perfect for accompanying gourmet meals or for enjoying on its own. They also highlight the elegance of the ripe fruit aromas and the creamy texture of this champagne. Discover more reviews here: Reviews of the R.D. 2008 Bollinger cuvée.
