      Description

Originally, it was the red wines that made the Champagne region famous. Favored by Henri IV, the Pinot Noirs from the commune of Aÿ were the most prized wines at the French court. Côte aux Enfants comes from a steep plot on the outskirts of Aÿ. It was Jacques Bollinger who patiently reconstituted it at the beginning of the 20th century, when more than fifty owners shared it! Bollinger now owns the four hectares in a single plot. Since 2009, the vines have been cultivated according to the principles of organic farming.

The 2013 Côte aux Enfants cuvée, made from 100% Pinot Noir Grand Cru d'Aÿ grapes, was vinified in the Burgundian style. Aged in small oak barrels for eight months, it has excellent ageing potential. To the eye, a beautiful garnet-red color; to the nose, aromas of elderberry, licorice, redcurrant and cherry, with peppery notes; and to the palate, a fine tannic structure and aromatic balance focused on red fruits, with aromas of blackberry, morello cherry and redcurrant.

This wine is particularly well-suited to veal with Coteaux champenois rouge, tournedos with shallot confit, poultry and duck, as well as Savoy tomme or Brie de Meaux.

La Côte aux Enfants 2013 is a wine for connoisseurs in search of the specialties of the Champagne appellation. This wine surprises with its concentration and power.

To bring out its unique style, bouquet and aromas, La Côte aux Enfants 2013 should be decanted a few hours before serving, at 16°C.

La Côte aux Enfants can be enjoyed over the next five years to fully appreciate the expression of the fruit, or left to age in the cellar to experience other tasting sensations.
