The Special Cuvée, the brut which is the signature of the house of Bollinger, was created in 1911. It was therefore 100 years old in 2011, and to celebrate the occasion Bollinger decided to create a magnificent limited edition Centenary Collector’s Edition.

Only 500 bottles are available for sale in France, and we have 25 of them at Plus de Bulles.

This magnificent lacquered wooden box contains a commemorative booklet recounting the story of the Special Cuvée through the 20th century, plus three bottles labeled and coiffed representing three key dates in Bollinger’s history : 1911, 1961 and 2011.

1911 marked the creation of this champagne much appreciated by connoisseurs, 2011 is of course the centenary, while 1961 was selected because it was the year that Madame Bollinger made this lovely statement during an interview with the Daily Mail when talking about the Bollinger Spécial Cuvée : « I drink it when I’m happy and when I’m sad. I drink it sometimes when I’m alone. When I’m not, I consider it obligatory. In other circumstances I never touch it, except when I’m thirsty». A phrase full of humor that has gone down in history, just as this Collector’s Edition will !
