      Description

      Maison Billecart-Salmon's Vintage 2016 is a charming champagne with pronounced fruity notes, underlined by a delicate, unctuous texture.

      The year 2016 was marked by a very mild winter, followed by a cool, even cold spring. While July was cool and rainy, August saved the season with some fine heat. Thanks to a lower-than-usual yield, the harvest produced grapes at full maturity. The result is a fresh, fruity vintage.

      This vintage is based on a blend dominated by the great Pinots Noirs (66%), combined with the elegance and subtlety of the Chardonnays (34%).

      The grapes come from the Grand Cru terroirs of Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs. A quarter of the wines are vinified in oak barrels.

      After bottling, this Vintage 2016 matured for over 5 years in the house cellars. Its dosage is Extra Brut (1.9g/L).

      This Vintage 2016 Billecart-Salmon has a rose-gold hue with luminous green reflections. Its bubbles are fine and lively.

      The nose reveals elegant notes of nuts and stone fruits (greengage and crunchy cherries). On the second nose, pastry notes emerge, supported by a beautiful minerality.

      On the palate, we discover a champagne with a very elegant, delicate attack, then in the mid-palate we rediscover the fruit notes discovered on the nose (fresh pineapple and citrus), amplified by a delicate, creamy texture. The finish is persistent and chiselled.

      A champagne to be enjoyed both as an aperitif and with delicate dishes such as sea bream or Pata Negra.
