South of the Côte des Blancs lies a small island that is still relatively unknown in the Champagne region: the Coteaux Vitryats. It was here, in Vitry-en-Perthois to be precise, that I met Antoine Chevalier. I was immediately struck by his love for his terroir and his deep roots in the region. From the moment we met, he told me about his terroir, about the chalky soil that appeared over 20 million years ago and gives the wine its unique character. He told me about the history of his region, which has always been at the heart of trade, and about the vineyard, which is part of the diocese of Châlons-en-Champagne. He spoke passionately about his oak barrel and vat aging process.

Antoine Chevalier tells me about his Carkonnia cuvée. A Blanc de Blancs, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes from the "Le Jardin de Meunier" plot in Vitry-en-Perthois, with a rich and powerful nose and a roundness on the palate that is so representative of the Coteaux Vitryats so dear to his heart. We then talk about the Tecta Silva cuvée, made from Chardonnays from the "Les Renardes" plot in Couvrot, with beautiful freshness and superb aromatic complexity.
