It is a cuvée that combines 65% Chardonnay and 35% Pinot Noir, vinified and aged in small 228-liter oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation is not carried out in order to respect the nature of the grape, the expression of the terroir and to maintain a very nice freshness.
Cuvée 565 Alfred Gratien is dressed in a gold color with yellow-green reflections. Its bubbles are fine, and numerous.
At the first, we immediately distinguish beautiful aromas of cooked fruit, hazelnut, acacia honey, but also praline, toast, and candied citrus fruits. On the second nose, more spicy notes appear.
On the palate, the Cuvée 565 Alfred Gratien deploys a silky and delicate attack, before giving way to a beautiful vinosity. It is an intense, dense, nervous champagne.
The finish is powerful and persistent, on a saline note.
